Governing Information

The Winston Island Woods Owners Association is a not-for-profit organization, managed by fellow owners who volunteer their time and are elected by you and your neighbors. The Board of Managers manages the property and financials of Winston Island Woods, and board meeting minutes and financials can be viewed at FrontSteps.
The role of the Board is to govern and provide oversight of the WIW Homeowners Association. This role may include protection, repair, and replacement of common areas, snow removal from common areas, landscaping, painting, decorating, and furnishing of the common areas; surfacing, paving, and maintaining streets, parking areas; assessment and collection of fees; preparing the annual budget, managing the expenses affecting the property and reporting the financials to the owners; and maintaining required insurance coverage for the property.
The Board meets on the 2nd Monday of each month unless rescheduling is required. Minutes from Board meetings are posted on FrontSteps after approval of the Board's minutes at the next month's meeting.
There is a maximum of nine Board Members. Each board member serves for three full years (unless they are replacing a recently vacated position where they will serve the remaining term of the prior board member). Board members are elected at the Annual Meeting in the Fall/Winter of each year, at which time other members of the community may also run for open spots on the Board.

An informational General Meeting is held annually in the spring of each year for the Board to report on the budget and expenses of the current year and projects, and to hear from owners on issues of concern or new ideas.
